10 WWE Wrestlers Who Were Better In The Indies

4. Luke Harper

El Generico At Chikara 2013

There were murmurs earlier this year that Luke Harper could be about to break out as a star in his own right after years of being Bray Wyatt's right-hand man. And, for a little while, it seemed like he had momentum on his side, ultimately denied the chance to compete for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania by a... err, photo-finish in the number one contender's battle royal.

But it turned out to be a false dawn and, for now at least, Harper's WWE run remains a tale of untapped potential to the fans who watched him work the independent circuit as Brodie Lee prior to signing for Vince McMahon. Granted, the Wyatts' feud with The Shield was one of the highlights of the last five years, but we're yet to see a singles run outside of his brief stint as Intercontinental Champion in 2014.
