10 WWE Wrestlers Who Weren't Given Enough Chances
8. Raven
"What about me? What about Raven?"
Exactly.
Following stints as Scotty Flamingo in WCW and Johnny Polo in the then-WWF, Scott Levy crafted the Raven persona for himself in 1994. Appearing in ECW under that guise, this was a character who was far, far more than your average wrestling character of the day.
Raven was deep, troubled, intense, multi-layered, philosophical, and a sociopath. Rarely had the wrestling business ever seen anything like Raven throughout its storied history - and that led to Raven becoming an instant hit with the rabid ECW fan base.
A two-time ECW World Heavyweight Champion, Raven's jump to WCW in 1997 was a big deal. Even though he never quite made it to the main event scene in WCW, he still had a memorable stint thanks to his Flock stable. And throughout it all, Raven continued to be one of the most fascinating characters in wrestling.
Of course, Raven wound up in the WWF in 2000. A potentially great signing for the company, Raven was given zero chances to ever be anything more than a bit-part player for Vince McMahon's organisation.
Briefly joining Tazz in his rivalry with Jerry Lawler, Raven was soon shunted towards the hardcore division. Scott Levy was doing the best with the opportunities he was given, and he even crafted a brilliant puppet master character change when given creative freedom when relegated to only appearing on the Heat C-show.
Regardless, Raven was released in January 2003, with McMahon and co. missing out on the opportunity to do something truly special with such a unique character and performer.
