100 Greatest WWE Royal Rumble Moments Ever
10. Rey Mysterio Wins It For Eddie Guerrero (2006)
Nobody will ever forget the emotions fans experienced heading into the 2006 Rumble. Eddie Guerrero had only passed away a few months prior, and his fans pinned hopes on real-life friend Rey Mysterio to honour Eddie properly. WWE bought into that by putting Rey over come the 30-man match in January '06.
Tears fell almost as hard as the confetti.
Mysterio paid tribute to his fallen friend with a masterful hour-long performance. It's often forgotten that Triple H was there with him every step of the way though. The Game also worked an hour in the match, but was eliminated second to last before Rey-Rey chucked Randy Orton to seize his WrestleMania date with destiny. Both men worked tirelessly that night.
Miami was buzzing to see Rey win. He instantly became one of the most unlikely Royal Rumble winners ever, but it was richly deserved for more than just the Guerrero sentiment. Mysterio looked up to the heavens and said, "This one is for you, Eddie". It's timeless, emotional, and heartfelt WWE history.
