Edge, Christian and The Hardys didn't know they were changing the face of the industry forever when they bounced around in a ladder match bumpfest at No Mercy 1999. Come the following flagship episode of Raw, all four received a standing ovation from the live crowd and knew they were onto something with this car crash-esque, unavoidably painful style. The WWF saw dollar signs and decided to shove The Dudleyz into the mix too.

At WrestleMania 2000, all three hungry young teams faced off in a three-way ladder war for the tag belts. Like at No Mercy, big bumps were the general rule of thumb. Nobody was safe from flying off a ladder, taking a few stiff weapon shots or crashing through some tables. Naturally, this is considered the genesis of what'd become known as TLC. It all started at 'Mania 2000, or slightly before if you include No Mercy '99.

It's a shame that 'Mania 2000 is often overlooked when people reminisce about the chemistry these tags had together. SummerSlam 2000's original TLC and 'Mania X-Seven's sequel usually get most of the praise. Rightly so, but 2 April 2000 shouldn't be completely dismissed if you're charting some of the best matches and moments from WWE's most famous event series.

Edge, Christian, Matt, Jeff, Bubba Ray and D-Von worked the second longest match of the night (behind the main event four way with a 'McMahon In Every Corner') and thrilled fans with their Crash Test Dummy displays that pushed the boundaries of human endurance on wrestling TV.

Bet these guys are still feeling some of those falls.
