Then-WWF chief Vince McMahon was left fuming when Randy Savage and Ric Flair totally ignored the company's strict anti-blood policy during their title match at 'Mania VIII. Knowing their midcard tussle needed some more juice (literally!), the 'Nature Boy' reached into his bag of tricks to blade his forehead and work a gusher right before dropping the strap to Savage.

That behaviour led to a hefty fine from the boss. Hilariously, Bret Hart and Roddy Piper conspired to do exactly the same thing during their Intercontinental Title showdown earlier in the night, but they got away with it. There you have it, folks: Bret was better at hiding the blade and slicing his own forehead than 'Slick Ric'. Or, not so slick Ric might be more apt given the financial fallout.

McMahon was angry, and yet there's no denying that claret added a fair bit to Savage vs. Flair. They'd been locked in an intense feud that saw Ric tease Randy about Miss. Elizabeth, so the blood was borderline essential to sell that hatred. Plus, if both were being honest, they presumably felt a wee bit jilted that they'd been ousted from the headline spot by a non-title Hulk Hogan vs. Sid Justice bout.

'Macho Man' rolled Ric up to win the title yet again, and 'Mania VIII belonged to him until Hulkamania grabbed attention later on. This would wind up being Flair's last WrestleMania until 2002, and is also notable for introducing Shane McMahon as an onscreen character - he showed up as one of the officials trying to restrain Elizabeth and stop her from getting involved in the match.
