11 Best WrestleMania Endings

5. One Last Go-Round

The only moment more emotional for Shawn Michaels than winning his first world title was wrestling his last match, which occurred in the main event of WrestleMania 26. On that night in Phoenix, Arizona, he battled The Undertaker in the second consecutive war between industry icons. Like its predecessor, the bout was a five-star affair, one that had been beautifully built over the course of four months and executed even more brilliantly by the Superstars involved. In the end, a resigned-yet-defiant Michaels mocked his opponent and slapped him before enduring one last Tombstone piledriver and having his shoulders pinned to the mat for the last time.

The match alone would have been enough to make this list but it is everything that proceeded it that helped elevate it to the No. 5 position.

From the embrace between respected peers to Michaels' emotional goodbye wave to the fans and the long walk up the entrance ramp for the last time as an active competitor, Michaels' farewell was handled with sincerity and class. There was not a dry eye in the house as he walked through the curtain and the show faded to black, much like the in-ring career of one of the industry's most superb performers ever.
