11 Biggest Changes Since WWE Survivor Series 2015
11. The Brand Split
We’ll start out with the brand split first, as it has a big hand in how everything else has played out this year.
While the split has had some issues so far, one thing that it has accomplished is that wrestlers are now much less over-exposed. Every wrestler in the company except John Cena, was asked to pull double duty these past few years. It was exhausting watching Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and New Day cutting promos and wrestling on Raw and SmackDown every week. They were all quickly wearing out their welcome.
Those years of not running a brand split has badly damaged the entire company. Almost no one feels special, because of how often we saw everyone. Now WWE can slow things down a bit. The split has also given bigger opportunities to Kevin Owens, Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz and a few others. We’ve witnessed a host of new faces as well, like American Alpha, Finn Balor (briefly), Bayley, Apollo Crews, James Ellsworth and more. There are a lot of things to like about it the split.
The wrestlers listed have achieved various levels of success, but a few are bound to break through and become bigger stars in the company. Seeing so many new faces and veterans in different roles has helped the product from feeling so terribly stale. There’s still a lot of work to be done to make the split work, but it really is a good thing for the company in the long term, if they’re stuck on providing five hours of first run TV a week that is.
