11 Biggest Missteps On The Road To WrestleMania 38

6. Secondary Titles Ignored

If you’re one of those fans who fondly remembers the legendary WrestleMania III match between “Macho Man” Randy Savage and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat for the Intercontinental Championship, you’re not alone.

But if you’re lamenting how WWE has managed to leave defense of both the IC title and United States Championship off the biggest show of the year (while including three celebrity matches across two nights), then you haven’t been paying attention.

It’s absolutely disgusting – but not surprising – that WWE put their secondary titles on two underutilized but fairly popular superstars in Ricochet and Finn Balor, then treated them like second-class citizens, keeping their feuds off Mania.

Ricochet lost twice to two talented tag wrestlers in separate singles matches last week to set up a triple threat IC title defense – at WrestleMania SmackDown. And Balor – who defeated Damian Priest in a match viewed as a vehicle for Priest’s full heel turn and presumably to set up a Mania rematch – is just participating in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on WrestleMania Smackdown. Finn's feud with Priest seems to have faded to the background.

But hey, Logan Paul, Johnny Knoxville and Pat McAfee have gotten plenty of TV time and build for their respective Mania matches.
