11 Biggest Stories From IMPACT's Bound For Glory And What They Mean Going Forward

2. Johnny Impact Captures His First Impact World Title

Austin Aries captured the Impact World title in January and has since nearly the entire year as champion - briefly losing hold of it to Pentagon Jr. for just one month. However, Johnny Impact - despite being branded with the company's name - had never held the coveted gold. At Bound For Glory, however, he finally captured Impact's top prize.

From the outset, the in-ring action looked less like a typical wrestling match and more like a legitimate fight. Aries wrapped Johnny in a front facelock as the two jockeyed for position. Words were exchanged as holds were countered and kicks were thrown - Aries even attempted to sweep his opponent's legs at one point during the tussle.

Finally, the match got on track as both men doled out some signature manoeuvres. On the outside, Impact leaped over Aries, landed split-legged between the ring and guardrail before launching into a Moonsault. The defending champ later dove through the ropes onto Taya Valkyrie at ringside. As Aries attempted to land his patented Brainbuster finisher, it was instead countered by Johnny into a Brainbuster of his own. He followed up with a Starship Pain and covered Aries to finally win the big one.
