11 Famous Wrestling "Holy Grounds" That Still Stand
6. Korakuen Hall
Though rather small by the standards of major wrestling venues (holding about 2000 people tops), Korakuen Hall has nonetheless gained the reputation as Japan's answer to Madison Square Garden. The hall has the distinction of being the only building in which every Japanese promotion has run shows; from outstanding New Japan and All Japan cards to chaotic FMW/ECW supercards and Big Japan death matches, every Japanese company has had a crack at Korakuen Hall.
To modern fans, Korakuen is known as a premier stop on almost all of New Japan's major tours. From the Best of the Super Juniors to the G1 Climax, fans now associate Korakuen Hall with some of the best wrestling in the world, something they haven't been able to associate with Madison Square Garden, as WWE haven't held a major show there in years.
So in a way, it would be appropriate to call MSG the Korakuen Hall of the United States.
