11 Fantasy WWE Tag Matches We'd Love To Have Seen

3. The Shield Vs The NWO

Participants: Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose Vs "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Up until their recent breakup, the trio of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose - also known as the Shield - had been the dominant stable in the WWE for the best part of the last couple of years, ever since they were introduced as a team when CM Punk hired them to ensure he remained the WWE Champion. This role saw them taking out guys like Ryback and the Rock, cementing them as a serious threat to almost anyone. As a trio, they went on an undefeated streak that lasted five months - a run that saw them take notable victories against the likes of Ryback, Kane, Daniel Bryan, the Undertaker, John Cena, Big Show, Randy Orton, Sheamus and Chris Jericho. Whilst the Shield existed as a trio, on the same night (May the 19th, 2013), Ambrose won the United States Championship and Reigns and Rollins won the WWE Tag Team Championship. Ambrose kept his title for nearly a year and Reigns and Rollins kept theirs for around five months. Prior to their breaking up, they came out victorious in two separate matches with Evolution (Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton). This particular incarnation of the nWo - Hogan, Hall and Nash - are arguably the most well-known trio in wrestling history. When Hall and Nash were known as the Outsiders, Hogan would reveal himself as their third man when the pair were battling Sting and Randy Savage in a tag match. Hogan came out, Hall and Nash feigned shock and exited the ring, before Hogan turned on Savage - his long time friend - executed a leg drop and gave Hall and Nash the win. From then on, the nWo underwent a number of roster changes, but Hogan, Hall and Nash would be near constant members and the trio would later go on to appear on WWE television. Hogan and Nash were both WCW World Heavyweight Champions while in the nWo and Hall and Nash won the WCW World Tag Team Championship no less than five times as a pair. As a trio, they have decimated guys like "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, the Rock, Goldberg, Randy Savage, Sting and Lex Luger. Both teams possess power, skill and sheer ruthlessness - and this match would last for a hell of a long time with back and forths occurring constantly - but experience usually wins out. Winners: The nWo. This is another close one, but the nWo's vaster experience would win out in the end. With an icon like the Hulkster in their ranks, a general size advantage throughout the team, a knack of playing the numbers game just as well as the Shield could and just as much experience in taking out big guns as the Shield - even though that's what the Shield made a gimmick of doing - the legends would edge it.
