11 Huge WWE SummerSlam 2022 Predictions You Need To Know
3. The Best Of What's Left
SmackDown's 2019 move to Fridays drove up WWE's willingness to add things to their weekend shows with just days to go. Well, that and historic company inadequacies.
The SummerSlam card is pleasingly succinct at present, but a (relatively) full stadium will command a run-time that might need filling via the remainder of what's left on Raw and SmackDown. As it stands, that could be one or more of the following angles still chugging along:
- Sheamus Vs Drew McIntyre for the right to face the WWE Champion at Clash At The Castle if their go-home bout doesn't have a finish.
- Gunther defending the Intercontinental Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura after weeks of the former Champion's battled Ludwig Kaiser
- Kevin Owens Vs Ezekiel, Elias, Elrod, or a combination of all three in a payoff to one of the stronger angles in WWE this year.
- The grand re-unveiling of Maximum Male Models after yet another delay.
All good Kickoff fodder, if not better than that in the case of the latter. But WWE - and SmackDown in particular - deserve passing plaudits just for actually making use of the time saved on Fridays without Roman Reigns taking up the first ten minutes just walking to the ring.
