11 Hugely Talented WWE Stars Who Were Fired Too Soon

10. Rene Dupree

"The French Phenom" made his WWE debut in 2003 at the ripe age of 19 and almost immediately became World Tag Team champion with Sylvain Grenier in La Resistance. The team was a solid heel team for WWE but it was clear that Dupree was significantly better than Grenier and capable of starring on his own. In April of 2004, he was drafted to SmackDown for what was meant to be his first singles push. After a brief feud with John Cena and a few months in the United States Championship hunt, he was thrown into a tag team with Kenzo Suzuki. From there, he floated around the SmackDown roster with little or nothing to do. After a months-long absence from television, he eventually popped up on the relaunched ECW brand. After a few losses, he disappeared again, returning to ECW in early 2007 and reuniting with Grenier. Unfortunately, Dupree would fail a Wellness Policy test and be suspended. Not long afterward, he was released from his contract. Dupree was a physical specimen. He looked every bit the part of a professional wrestler and at only 19 when he made his debut, many envisioned him as the star of the future for World Wrestling Entertainment. While he clearly had a presence about him and a measurable charisma, he was given too much, too soon and was never allowed to properly develop. Had the company taken its time with Dupree, he is a competitor who could easily still be starring for them today. Especially since he is still only 30 years old today.
