WWE's John Cena project really got going in 2005. They made him Champion and lined up film and music roles for him. He was deliberately positioned to be a crossover mainstream star. Part of that would involve a rapping career, an extension on his 'thuganomics' gimmick. WWE filmed a fun music video and put it on their TV shows, the appearance of which was very kid orientated. The show then promoted Cena's single and album, selling it as the new cool thing. Sure enough, it became a top seller. But what happened when parents popped the CD into the music player for the kids? They heard the following - "Don't f*** with John Cena, I'm a bad, bad man." It is a definite scandal that WWE had with Cena. They sold him to kids, but had him doing adult things.
