11 Most Important Wrestlers Of The Ruthless Aggression Era
1. The Undertaker
Civil wars usually result from the removal of power sources. Top power figures leave room for top contenders to try their luck, and usually, unrest is the result as people scramble for the top spot. The reason civil wars are more uncommon in the west is that there are political structures in place to prevent it from happening. Back in 2002, WWE was similar. While new wrestlers were vying for the top spot, The Undertaker remained the locker room leader and so, his presence prevented over-political shenanigans from wrestlers.
Always a steady hand, The Phenom entered the peak of his career during the Ruthless Aggression Era and had some stellar matches. Not only that, but he used his position on the card, and backstage, to help elevate rising talent.
While he attained the status of Undisputed Champion during 2002, ‘Taker wrestled Jeff Hardy on Raw and while winning the match, he made Jeff Hardy look like a worthy contender and publicly showed his respect, despite being a heel.
Not only that, but Brock was shown to be worth the hype when he bested Big Evil in the best Hell in a Cell match to date, at No Mercy 2002.
The Undertaker also returned to his Deadman gimmick and continued to try to educate and elevate McMahon favourites from Big Show to Heidenreich to moderate success.
Always reliable, The Undertaker deserves to be on this list, as he will always be a WWE guy, with his mind always focused on what is best for business.
