It had been several weeks since we had seen the NXT Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura, on the weekly Wednesday program. A vicious attack by Samoa Joe left the titleholder unable to return to NXT until this week; Nakamura immediately made up for lost time by inciting a wild pull apart brawl with Joe that ended with Kinshasa city and breathed considerable life back into their rivalry. Though nothing we have not seen before, it was the kind of segment that more often than not achieves its intended purpose with zeal.

Joe had yet again interrupted a previously-scheduled match to brutally beat-down the combatants, but Nakamura walked onto the ramp in a neck brace, taking the former champion temporarily by surprise. When "The King of Strong Style" peeled off the brace and unleashed an attack of his own, it created one of those moments to remember in a wrestling feud that, when they meet again for the title presumably at NXT Takeover in Toronto next month, will make for a fantastic visual on the hype video package.
