11 Newsworthy Moments From Chris Jericho's Cruise (And What They Mean For Wrestling In 2019)
6. The Elite Is Not Bullet Club For Life
The Bullet Club has been fractured for most of 2018 and when Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, and Bad Luck Fale attacked Kenny Omega and The Elite, the group was decisively split in two. The Tongans, as well as new additions like Jay White and Gedo, have been calling themselves the Bullet Club OGs since the attack. Meanwhile, Omega and his stable have been frequently referred to as the Bullet Club Elite.
During a live edition of the Talk Is Jericho podcast, Cody officially stated that The Elite is no longer associated with the Bullet Club and is indeed its own separate entity. While bad blood surely remains between the OGs and The Elite, the civil war over the Bullet Club name is over. The likely reason is because The Elite branding is owned by The Young Bucks and their cohorts while New Japan owns all of the Bullet Club trademarks.
What that could mean for the group's future in 2019 is unclear, but they are no longer bound to New Japan due to the Bullet Club brand. With Cody, the Bucks, and the others continuing to branch out on their own, they will now do so solely as The Elite.
