Before there was Paige and the Four Horsewomen, there was Summer Rae, who was one of NXT's first female success stories.

Summer started out as a ring announcer for NXT before transitioning into an in-ring role in early 2013. Later that year, she recruited Sasha Banks and Charlotte into her "BFFs" stable and soon became the top heel in NXT's women's division.

Simultaneously, she was on Raw and SmackDown serving as Fandango's valet, so in addition to honing her skills down in developmental, she was also already getting exposure on the main stage. She seemed primed to be a top talent on WWE's women's scene based off how she was always improving in every aspect.

For whatever reason, a push for the perky blond never came to pass.

At various points throughout her WWE career, Summer was associated with Fandango, Tyler Breeze and Rusev, but none of those partnerships ever translated to in-ring success for her. She was sent packing to Raw in the 2016 WWE draft but never appeared on the brand before being released from her contract in October 2017.
