Similar to Tye Dillinger, fans had reservations about The Vaudevillians in NXT and questioned whether their gimmick would work as well on WWE's main roster as it did down in developmental.

They were a mainstay in NXT's tag team division for nearly a year and a half and at one point won the NXT Tag Team Championship (yes, that was them at the first NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn special). It reached a point where they had done all they could on the black-and-gold brand and were ready to be called up to the grand stage.

After all, WWE was bringing back the Brand Split in the summer of 2016, so they could be used to fill out the SmackDown Live tag team division. Unfortunately, after vying for the tag titles against The New Day and falling short, they were personae non gratae on Tuesday nights. Whenever the team did appear, they were booked to lose.

Eventually, Simon Gotch had enough of being utilized as an enhancement talent and called it quits following WrestleMania 33. This came after reports surfaced that he had heat with several Superstars backstage (specifically Sin Cara), so his departure was hardly a surprise.

Aiden English actually ended up way better off without Gotch. He formed a fun alliance with Rusev and Lana later on in 2017 and now serves as a color commentator for 205 Live.
