11 Talented Wrestlers Who Felt Forced To Quit WWE

4. AJ Lee

AJ Lee wasn€™t exactly forced out of WWE, but her sticking around after her husband CM Punk was fired must have been an insanely awkward experience. Somehow she stuck around in that bizarre work environment for nine months! For a couple of years, Lee became a breakout star for the company, and was heavily featured in a fun storyline with Punk, Daniel Bryan and Kane. When that ran its course, she was put into the role of General Manager, receiving even more air time. Perhaps it was too much of a good thing, as she began to lose some popularity, but still remained important to the show, and someone who appeared to be in the business for the long haul. But then, Punk walked out, and was fired on their wedding day! Imagine coming back to work from your honeymoon to that circus. On top of that, Punk was being sued by a WWE doctor for what he€™d said about him in Colt Cabana€™s podcast. There was no way this was going to end well for anyone involved. There was no way AJ was going to get a good faith push again, but if the company fired her, they€™d look even worse. You can assume that the working relationship between the two parties must have been a miserable one. Finally, the inevitable happened, as after WrestleMania 31 AJ retired from the business a couple years away from turning 30.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
