11 Terrible Fourth Wall Breaking Wrestling Moments

5. Hornswoggle's Escape

Much like Vince Russo, this whole list could be composed of Hornswoggle moments. We’ll go with Hornswoggle’s attempt to get an ice cream sandwich.

Little Horny was walking around Raw backstage, minding his own business, when he discovered a door that had a “Free Ice Cream Sandwiches” sign on it. He went inside and...oh no! It was a trap! Carlito was about to murder Hornswoggle, or something, when he suddenly—and quite perfectly—painted an outline of a door on a wall within a matter of seconds with a can of spray paint. He then ran circles around Carlito, an airplane noise was heard out of nowhere, and he ran through this wall.

Carlito then tried the same thing, and knocked himself out...despite the fact that he wasn’t small enough to make it through the hole anyway.

To everybody in the entire f***ing world except Vince McMahon, this was horrendously embarrassing television. This was Loony Tunes from the 1950s, which is probably the last time Vince watched TV. My head hurts trying to make sense of it, but dammit, this is a billion dollar empire, so somebody should have been thinking this through! Either we were supposed to believe that Hornswoggle had magical powers, or Swoggle and Carlito were working together on coming up with a skit to air on TV just for the hell of it, despite them also feuding on air at the time.

It wasn’t even the biggest fourth wall breaking moment involving Woggle, let's grab another one…

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
