That is where this is heading, right? Over the last few weeks, Baron Corbin and Tye Dillinger have repeatedly thwarted each other’s attempts to challenge AJ Styles for the WWE United States Championship. For reasons that aren’t entirely clear, it is Corbin who has been presented with the one-on-one shot this coming weekend.

The Perfect 10 is surely going to get involved before the match, and WWE should pull the trigger and make this a triple threat match. Neither Dillinger nor The Lone Wolf should be on the level of The Phenomenal One - making this a three-way adds a little extra intrigue to an otherwise underwhelming singles bout.

The rules of a triple threat also open up all sorts of possibilities regarding the winner of the match, but it is in the best interests of the championship that it remains around the waist of AJ Styles. The United States Championship Open Challenge has been an abject failure thanks to the interference of Corbin and Dillinger - the final stretch of 2017 needs to be defined by week after week of excellent AJ Styles title defences.
