11 Things We Learned From Legends With JBL With Booker T (Part 1)
7. Getting His Life Back Together And Breaking Into The Business
After Booker was paroled he looked to get his life back on track and specifically wanted to regain custody of his son, Brandon, who was living in foster care. He moved out of his sister's place and in with Stevie Ray, who got him a job as a security guard. He didn't have any money in the bank, though, so pulled one last 'heist': his sister was still selling weed at the time and Booker stole about 5lbs of the stuff from her dealer and sold it in one go.
Booker was fired from his security job when they found out he had a criminal record, but he made a connection and got a job in maintenance (which included a free apartment for him and his son to live in). That led to another job for Booker running a warehouse. At this point he felt proud because he was a single father and he and his young son were doing well and he was starting to earn a positive reputation.
It was Stevie Ray's idea for them to get into the wrestling business. Booker followed him into the sport, training at Ivan Putski's school, which led to a gig with GFW. He basically followed his brother around, which lead to them becoming a tag team. It's obvious by hearing Booker speak that he has a lot of love and respect for Stevie Ray and is thankful that his brother helped him win his son back.
