11 Things We Learned From Legends With JBL With Booker T (Part 1)
4. The Sid Factor
Sid Vicious was watching GFW around this time and put in a word for them at WCW. Booker got the call one day and passed it over to Stevie Ray. Sid was transitioning into having more of a backstage/office role and wanted the Ebony Experience to be their first acquisition. The Master and Ruler of the World said he would do whatever he could to get them into the company.
Booker knew that it would only be a matter of time before they got an offer from another promotion, since GFW was on ESPN at the time and JBL says that he and the rest of the GFW locker room knew it, too. When Stevie Ray and Booker flew out to Atlanta they actually stayed with Sid and Booker says that a lot of people don't realise how cool he really is.
Sid had nothing to gain by doing this, he was just being a nice guy. He made sure they had a good spot on the roster and also made sure they got raises when they were due. Harlem Heat's first PPV main event, interestingly enough, was teaming with Sid (and Vader) in a War Games match at Fall Brawl 1993.
