11 Things We Learned From Shawn Michaels On The Ross Report

8. Jumping To WCW

JR reads a Twitter question that asks if Shawn had ever considered going to WCW and how that would have impacted his legacy. Michaels reveals that he did think about it, and during an argument with Vince told him that he was miserable and wanted to be released from his contract so he could go be with his friends in the rival promotion. McMahon held his ground and refused, and Shawn is glad he did. He says that his boss told him that he's a creative guy, and if he were to leave, WCW would take everything about wrestling that he was passionate about and suck that out of him by stifling his creativity, and Shawn admits in hindsight that he was probably right. Shawn says that while some guys left despite being still under contract and McMahon chose not to fight it, he thinks he would have fought it with him, and Vince knew what was better for him more than he did at that time.
