On paper, WWE Survivor Series 2016 looked like it had the potential to be an immensely fascinating show. In practice it blew that assumption out of the water, producing enough shocking moments and twists and turns to force the reader to attempt to create a more intriguing adjective than 'fascinating'.

The show was full of people's predictions being blown out of the water. American Alpha to be the sole survivors? Nope. Kalisto taking the cruiserweight division to SmackDown? Nope. James Ellsworth causing Dean Ambrose to be eliminated? Nope. Brock Lesnar vanquishing Goldberg? Extremely very nope.

It was the sort of show that people will talk about for months, a show that has increased intrigue in WWE tenfold and makes the Road to WrestleMania even more intriguing than it usually is. Isn't that what the fanbase wants? Reasons to tune in, fascinating developments and storytelling in that unique professional wrestling way? Survivor Series gave the fans what they say they want and they gave it them in spades.

It wasn't a perfect show, far from it, but analysing and reporting on professional wrestling is a process that is often full of gripes and complaints. Starting Monday off with the power of positivity, here are 11 things WWE got right at Survivor Series 2016.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
