Whilst the acting ability of Nikki Bella still leaves a lot to be desired ("oh, my head it hurts so bad"), removing the now-veteran member of the SmackDown Live women's division was clearly a good move, and for a number of reasons. First things first it allowed Natalya to take her place in the match, guaranteeing added involvement from the crowd with the addition of one of Canada's own.

More importantly this sets up a number of possibilities going forward. Who was responsible for blasting Nikki out of the match? Natalya is one candidate, as it was Nikki who kept her out of the match, and the former Divas Champion was surprisingly quick on the scene.

Was it Carmella, whom Nikki has been locked in a never-ending feud with since the draft in July? Maybe a member of Team Raw, beginning the build towards an inter-brand match at the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania? This was simple storytelling that opens up more intriguing possibilities. Thumbs up.
