8. Mixing Up The Commentary Teams

Moving away from the action for a moment, WWE kept things interesting and fresh at the announce desk by mixing up the teams throughout the night. The prospect of a six-man booth was somewhat nauseating, so many were relived when the matches were called by four-man combinations of both shows.

This helped the brand loyalty aspect of the show immensely. Hearing announcers working side by side whilst supporting their brand was a nice throwback to the days of the original brand split, where Tazz & Michael Cole would be vehemently SmackDown in the face of JR & The King's Raw. It was a nice touch.

It also continued the relentless bullying of Byron Saxton, a state of affairs that shows no sign of abating. Be a star, WWE.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
