11 Things WWE Got Right With UK Championship Tournament

3. The Beginning For The End

Introducing Tommy End to the WWE Universe via a showcase match here against Neville was an unexpected but wise move. End has a huge following amongst UK fans, and whilst he came up short against The King of the Cruiserweights, he was given enough offence by the Geordie to put himself over as a major threat when he eventually comes up to Full Sail. End gave Neville all he had, and Neville had to pull out all of the stops to pick up the victory.

Those new to End will have been impressed too, and no doubt swayed somewhat by the reaction given to him by the live crowd. Wrestling fans can sometimes veer into a sheep-like mentality, and seeing 3,000 going wild for the arrival of someone you may not know secures his credibility. Tommy End will become Aleister Black on NXT, but the performer underneath the name will be the same. It will be fascinating to see how the man from Amsterdam gets on in the choppy waters of WWE developmental, but for one night the man looked perfectly at home in a WWE ring.

Some may take umbrage with Neville picking up the win, but the truth is it was the only result that makes sense. The Man That Gravity Forgot is a main roster superstar who has had visual pins over John Cena and Seth Rollins. End loses nothing in defeat here.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
