11 Things WWE Got Wrong At SummerSlam 2017

1. Another Boring WWE Championship Match

Despite firmly being behind the choice to have Jinder Mahal win this match, this could well have been one of the worst WWE Championship matches in memory. Jinder is carrying himself like a star and clearly putting his all into what he is given, but it doesn’t change the simple fact that he isn’t a very good pro wrestler.

Shinsuke Nakamura certainly hasn’t covered himself in glory over the last 12 months either. A series of lazy performances have seen his stock fall somewhat. The King of Strong Style had his working boots on here, but he couldn’t drag anything out of the Modern Day Maharaja.

Once again Jinder won thanks to the interference of the Singh Brothers. This served to reinforce the idea that Jinder does not deserve his spot, a fact that is difficult to argue with at this point. He didn’t help matters by making an absolute mess of his finisher either. Jinder Mahal is out of his depth.

There was a lot to like about SummerSlam. The main event was a fantastic car crash of a match, and the undercard was punctuated by a lot of good matches and wise title changes. Overall it was a frustrating show, and one that confirmed that the time has come to once again hinder Jinder.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
