11 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About WrestleMania

5. The Concept Of WrestleMania 2 Was Bad

The second WrestleMania was a bad show. There's no other way to say it. It was held in three venues in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. The first hour was in New York, the second hour was in Chicago and the third hour was in Los Angeles. Fans in the arenas paid good money to watch just one hour of the action and then had to watch the video screens for the rest of it. Celebrity involvement went overboard at WrestleMania 2 also. They had over 20 celebrities at the three venues doing various things. Most of them had no idea what they were doing. The worst part was they had Susan St. James, Cathy Lee Crosby and Elvira on commentary during all the matches at their venues. They were all awful. Terrible decision. The only positive aspect of the move was that they could fill up three arenas for one show, so that meant a lot in terms of a tickets sold standpoint. However, from a show quality point of view, it wasn't a great event to watch. Three venues for one show? Bad idea. If it was a good idea they probably would have repeated the concept again after all these years. There's a reason why WWE will always mention the importance of WrestleMania 1 and then just skip the second one to talk about how great WrestleMania 3 was. It's because they know WrestleMania 2 was awful.
