11 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About WrestleMania

6. The Mickie James Grab Of Trish Stratus And The Lick At WrestleMania 22

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPtD_VO0uYI Any time you can have a feud with two hot women with a great storyline it's not something that any of us should forget. As fans, we likely remember all of it because it's one of the best women's feuds ever. However, there were a couple of things that happened that WWE didn't like. When Trish Stratus, the babyface Women's Champion, was setting up Mickie James for her Stratusfaction Bulldog, Mickie countered it in a way that nobody else had before: by grabbing her crotch. The move stunned Trish, but also popped the crowd. Mickie also spread her fingers apart and did a licking motion, which had a strong sexual connotation to it. There was also a moment where Mickie wasn't able to hit Trish's finisher to win the match, so they improvised by using a kick to the head to end the match. Try finding those moments on a DVD of the event. You won't see the grab, the finger lick or even the botched Stratusfaction at the end of the match. How about on the WWE Network? Not happening there either. If you have an original copy of the show you can see it, but other than that, WWE has completely erased it from their history. In 2011, James talked about the reaction of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon: "I came back through the curtain and Vince was really mad. In the moment it had seemed amazing to me. I thought 'Vince will love this'. 'Crass' was the word I got. He didn't like it at all. He told me 'We're going to have to go back and edit that out. Do you know how much time (this will take)?' This was my first Wrestlemania, my mom was in the audience, I'm freaking out already. I'm back through the curtain and I'm already in tears and an emotional mess. And I got yelled at." There weren't lingering effects about the incident, though. Since James went on to have a long title reign and she won the Women's Title four more times in her career (plus the Divas Title), WWE considered her one of their top divas ever. It's just that they don't want you to remember all of the details of her first Women's Title win.
