4. Scott Steiner Tried To Rip His Eyes Out

All of WCW was quickly going to hell in 2001. The promotion was losing badly to WWE, and many of their big stars began refusing to show up for work. Two of the last big names they had left were Scott Steiner and DDP. Unfortunately, they didn't get along.

The rumor was that Page’s wife Kimberly (former leader of the Nitro Girls) found an illegal substance backstage in the women's bathroom and reported it to management. They believed it belonged to Tammy Lynn Sytch (Sunny), who denied it and even took a drug test to prove it (she passed). This put major heat on Kimberly (who has always denied any involvement), and it really upset Steiner, who was a long time friend of Sytch. He confronted Page’s wife, and chased her out of the building. She never returned to WCW.

The following week Steiner cut one of his off-the-cuff promos and completely buried Page on-air. DDP apparently took exception to being called a p***y in an unscripted remark, and since management wasn’t in the business of being professional in those days, Page himself had to confront Steiner and the two got into a fight. Page claims he got Steiner in a front facelock, and when Steiner broke free he tried to rip his eye out! Luckily security got involved and broke things up. While the story sounds pretty far-fetched, both men agree that an attempted eye ripping did indeed happen.

You can only imagine the scandal if Steiner had succeeded.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
