11 Things You Might Have Missed From WWE Fastlane 2016
4. Finishers Old And New
AJ Styles and Chris Jericho dug deep into their arsenals in an attempt to win their rubber match. In Jericho's case, he went all the way back to his WCW days and used the Liontamer - an ultra-high-angle Boston Crab that Y2J would frequently use against fellow cruiserweights like Dean Malenko, Rey Mysterio Jr., and Juventud Guerrera. Once Jericho came to WWE and started wrestling larger opponents, he modified the hold into the Walls of Jericho, but the smaller (and more flexible) AJ Styles was easy prey for a Liontamer outside the ring. As for Styles, he finally got to hit Chris Jericho with the Styles Clash, one of the most feared moves in all of wrestling. The Styles Clash helped AJ Styles dominate New Japan and Ring of Honor throughout 2014 and 2015, but when he hit Jericho with it, Y2J kicked out. Styles immediately secured victory with the Calf Crusher, making it clear that the submission hold is now his primary finisher - potentially because WWE wants to de-emphasize the legitimately dangerous Styles Clash.
