11 Times WWE Made An Ass Clown Out Of Chris Jericho
11. Losing To Fandango At WrestleMania XXIX
Hindsight is such a wonderful thing... There's little doubting that WWE had big plans for the Fandango character heading into Mania 29. Numerous reports, Jericho speaking on his podcast being one of them, suggest that the man formerly known as Johnny Curtis was in-line for a run as Intercontinental Champion, which would have been a huge step for someone that had only been on the main roster in his new gimmick for around five months at the time. However, injury would rob the dancer of this opportunity and he hasn't been able to recover since. Looking at how Fandango has faired over the last year especially, or maybe even longer, seeing him defeat Jericho on the biggest stage of them all leaves a lot to be desired... Jericho, in his role of the veteran, was tasked with helping the Fandango character get over. In the weeks before the MetLife Stadium event, fans weren't taking to the gimmick and it looked like even though Curtis was quite literally living the role, and playing it very well on television, it wouldn't be a fruitful one for him. Of course, he would become one of those cult Superstars the following night on RAW when his theme music received a thorough going over by the WWE Universe in attendance. The match itself was nothing to write home about even though Jericho found himself bloodied early on. The pair were hindered by a lack of time and an ever so slightly botched finish when the Tough Enough host went for a Lionsault only for Fandango to get his feet up and Jericho to miss him completely, but still have to sell an injury anyway... Who knows what would have happened if Fandango didn't get injured but this is a defeat that Chris will be sure to look back on with some disdain.
