11 Times WWE Titles Changed Hands At Non-Televised Live Events
7. Intercontinental Championship - Christian Def. Booker T (August 10 2003)
The Intercontinental Title had a break of changing hands on non-televised events for a few years but a real-life injury necessitated a switch in August 2003.
Booker had defeated Captain Charisma for the IC belt on the July 7th episode of Raw which, oddly enough, emanated from the Bell Centre in - you guessed it - Montreal, Quebec, Canada. What is it with the City of Saints and WWE's no.2 title?
The former five-time WCW Champion was all set for a lengthy run when a nagging back injury pinned him to the sidelines. It had been bothering him for a while but his condition had deteriorated significantly over the previous couple of months to the point where some felt as though he may need to retire.
He needed to rehab, which meant that WWE needed to get the title off of him ASAP, so the Book man dropped the gold back to Christian in Des Moines, Iowa on August 10th, a little over a month after he won it. Booker was out for two months after the loss.
WWE really had no choice but to do the change here.
