Man, Jeff Jarrett just can't catch a break, can he?

The Chosen One once again dropped his IC Title - once again, in Canada - this time falling to a hot young upstart named Edge at the Toronto Skydome on July 24th 1999.

Jarrett was supposed to have faced and beaten Ken Shamrock, but The World's Most Dangerous Man couldn't make it due to travel issues. Edge and Jarrett had a five minute match that ended with the Rated-R Superstar bagging his first WWE gold, much to the surprise of the 15,220 in attendance and also to the man himself.

Indeed, Edge had no idea this was coming and it resulted in some confusion in the arena, too. The referee originally took the title away from Edge but, following a consultation with road agent Blackjack Lanza, handed it back to him and the decision stood. It was a real feelgood moment for the hometown boy.

Edge lost the title back to Jarrett in the opener of the Fully Loaded PPV the very next evening.
