12 Times WWE Tried To Convince You Wrestlers Were Related

11. The Undertaker, Kane And Paul Bearer

So let's start with those Brothers of Destruction and their manager, mentor, and in Kane's case, father, Paul Bearer... Undertaker and the Big Red Machine were billed as brothers - half brothers to be precise - with a 19-year-old Paul Bearer getting jiggy with Taker's mother on the kitchen floor to create Kane... Really. With the pair living in The Phenom's parent's funeral home, Kane was said to have started a fire that killed both mummy and daddy Taker - with the Devil's Favourite Demon receiving burns to a large proportion of his body (hence the mask, although they were later revealed to be psychological scars, sigh). However, Undertaker later told of how it was in fact he who started the blaze, because Kane "was a weak child". That's messed up! Before he announced that however, The Deadman - the face in the rivalry - refused to lay a hand on his own "flesh and blood", even though Kane wanted to brawl. After a brief partnership, Kane betrayed his brother when he cost him the WWF Championship by interfering in the match against Shawn Michaels at the Royal Rumble. After the match, Kane locked Undertaker in a casket and set it on fire... Oh, the irony... This provoked Taker into returning to face Kane at WrestleMania XIV to get his revenge before the next 17-years of on-off rivalries and partnerships played out. Of course, Undertaker and Kane aren't actually real-life half-brothers. Taker's real name is Mark Calaway, a 50-year-old Texan; while Kane is played by Glenn Jacobs, a 48-year-old who was born in Madrid, Spain but grew up in Tennessee.
