11 United States Champions (Who Didn't Come From America)

1. Cesaro

The Swiss Superman may have only held the United States Championship one time, but this reign puts him at the top of the list for longest reigns of any non-US (and non-Canadian) United States Champion. Cesaro won the title when he was still known as Antonio Cesaro, beating fellow non-American Santino Marella on the 2012 SummerSlam pre-show.

It's been four years?! Time flies.

Cesaro held the title for 239 days, an impressive run that unfortunately didn't get the support it deserved from WWE creative. He dropped the title to Kofi Kingston in April 2013, ostensibly to get the belt on a babyface in order for the then-heel Dean Ambrose to pick it up.

Cesaro would go on to lose his first name too, and subsequently every title challenge since.

It isn't outside the realms of possibility that Cesaro will once again hold US gold, but until then he will have to be happy with his place on this list.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
