11 United States Champions (Who Didn't Come From America)

10. Tajiri

Tajiri became the second man from the Land of the Rising Sun to win the United States Championship when he defeated Kanyon for the strap on RAW in September 2001.

The Invasion angle was just heating up at this time, and Tajiri actually became the first wrestler on the WWE side to win the title. Not only that, but he also had Torrie Wilson by his side at this point. Not bad at all. Tajiri's reign would last less than two weeks, as he dropped the strap to Rhyno at Unforgiven 13 days later.

Yoshihiro Tajiri was born in the Japanese city of Tamana in 1970, and the Japanese Buzzsaw will probably go down in history as one of the few examples Vince McMahon booked a Japanese talent correctly. It wasn't all gravy of course, but Tajiri was given decent runs both as a babyface and a heel during his time with the company.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
