11 Ups & 0 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Mar 31)

3. ****1/2 Trios Banger

Fenix Karl Anderson
AEW

On the subject of almost weekly ****1/2 trios bangers, Kenny Omega and the Good Brothers Vs. The Lucha Bros. and Laredo Kid was a ****1/2 trios banger.

The opening few minutes were spectacular enough. Laredo Kid's jaw-dropping brilliance was highlighted early in an amazing stereo dive sequence before the heel unit took over with the heat. This too was brilliant - so much better than the obligatory we're-in-picture-in-picture fare. Omega is on fire at the moment, and layered his work with his glorious comedic impulses. Mocking his opponents, he carried Gallows on his back to create a platform for a Karl Anderson aerial that was deliberately, delectably much sh*ttier than the mind-blowing offence of the face side. This total d*ckhead spot made you want to see said mind-blowing offence, and it was delivered in the pulsating second half of the match.

When this match descended into tornado, it was phenomenal. They rained down a hailstorm of constantly escalating, unhinged excitement. Canadian Destroyer; headscissors into a crunching powerbomb reversal; a shotgun blast of a Laredo Kid dive; pop; pop; pop.

This was unreal in its pacing, timing, and thrills, and in the end, in a fabulous moment of synergy, Callis skipped to the ring in celebration in contrast to the rat that got the hell out of dodge last week.
