4. An Improvement On The Worst Aspect Of Kenny Omega's Title Run

Young Bucks Don Callis
AEW

Kenny Omega is weaving an elaborate spiderweb as AEW World Champion, and almost all of it is as incredible as the vast ambition.

He has drawn the ire of Death Triangle and associates to work almost weekly ****1/2 trios bangers; realigned with the Good Brothers to form an hilarious and devastating heel unit; opened another Forbidden Door to New Japan Pro Wrestling, enlisting KENTA to assist him against Jon Moxley in a cracking, sprawling brawl; hinted at a future date with Christian Cage; spun the Mox legacy rivalry into a captivating sub-feud with Eddie Kingston; set himself the goal of removing the Impact Wrestling World Title from Rich Swann; and, at the heart of it all, has almost dissolved his industry-changing friendship with the Young Bucks.

This is the doing of Don Callis, who continued to torment Matt Jackson in a vastly-improved promo segment. The stuff with the black eye was contrived, with an appalling use of a camera that was better off being invisible (what an indictment that is). And Don's belief that AEW World Tag Team Champions the Young Bucks have lost their edge was asinine.

But!

The Bucks teaming with endearing nerd and lifelong friend Brandon Cutler (and losing!) made sense of his words in retrospect, and here, Callis, in a bravura verbal performance, attempted to draw a punch from Matt. He tried to make him feel like sh*t for betraying his best friend, but he refused.

Kenny Omega thinks in years. One day, the Bucks are going to throw a Superkick Party in the smarmy face of Don Callis, Kenny is going to join in with a V-Trigger, and the restored Elite will close this chapter of the saga.

Segments like this will inform the hell out of that pop.
