11 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (29 Sep)

5. How To Kill A "What?" Chant

Hats off to Ethan Page, who absolutely ethered last night's "what?!" chant with an incendiary promo in the middle of the ring.

Page was loud, intense, and left no room for audience intervention as he ranted on being overlooked and underappreciated. Touting his company-best smile and "TIGHTEST T!TS IN THE GAME", he was smug and arrogant without sacrificing any fire, following up Scorpio Sky's blistering promo on Dark: Elevation earlier in the week.

Tremendous crowd control from Page, as the "what?!" chants gave the impression that the crowd was losing interest in the Men of the Year and Dan Lambert's content up to that point. Lambert was his usual self, dropping words like "millennials" in a promo aimed at Chris Jericho, whom he claims will have to retire after Jorge Masvidal turned his brains into scrambled eggs with last week's running knee. The content is what it is at this point but as the guy who inspired these chants, which are a universal sign of wrestling rebellion, it's now time to reevaluate his role. This isn't working.

Sky, meanwhile, referenced everything he'd accomplished in AEW to this point, from his Tag Team Title run to the Face of the Revolution ladder match, throwing the pitch for his tag partner's home run.

The Men of the Year often blow hot and cold in AEW. Here, they were as hot as they have been since the Sting/Darby Allin feud, though Lambert still feels miscast alongside them.
