11 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (Jun 14 - Review)

4. Toni Storm Vs Skye Blue

Toni Storm made a solid argument for being the best AEW Women's Champion ever in 2022, and she picked right back up where she left off in her first defence of her second run against Skye Blue.

A phenomenally-agented effort got the response it deserved, with Blue's recent babyface fire being given free rein to set the building ablaze before she ultimately succumbed to The Outcasts' chicanery and Storm's experience and skill.

Such was the occasion for the challenger that her mother was sat in the front row, and Mrs Blue became key to the chaos when Storm and Soho attacked her with spray paint for major heat. A dive took them both out and opened the door for the most unlikely of hope spots - blue spray paint to counter the green! Fans were molten for the title change, manipulated as they were by Storm's fantastic selling and Skye Blue's suddenly-epic-feeling babyface charisma. Soho taking the referee after a Code Blue was cruel to the emotions of the locked-in crowd, but the kick out by Blue from a wicked Storm Zero was received like a gift from the heavens.

It wasn't to be - Storm wrapped it up with a Cloverleaf but a post-match beatdown was interrupted by Willow Nightingale to set up a strong Collision undercard attraction.

Speaking of which....
