11 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (Jun 14 - Review)
1. "This 2023 Dynamite Ending Was GOATed Flame Emoji"
...is what engagement accounts will type on 2043's version of social media if the amount of play that SmackDown 2001 conclusion gets is anything to go by.
A chaotic end to the show brought about four shock run-ins, three of which were totally unannounced, two of which were surprise returns to AEW and one of which left a major question heading into a blockbuster Blood & Guts match that continues to take shape.
Eddie Kingston was first to arrive back on the scene, charging for Claudio Castagnoli to resume hostilities from their ROH Championship match at Supercard Of Honor earlier this year. Saving The Young Bucks in the moment, he was suddenly face-to-face with Jon Moxley and an entire crowd switched from roaring their support to holding their breath. No conclusive outcome was forthcoming before Konosuke Takeshita broke up the moment by attacking 'The Mad King' from behind to seemingly draw brand new battle lines.
He wasn't safe for long. Kenny Omega - thought to still be in Japan calling on help from friends - stormed the ring, but before he could V-Trigger Takeshita into the waiting arms of Don Callis on the floor, Forbidden Door opponent Will Ospreay struck. Getting the better of Kenny with the Stormbreaker, he got the last word in-ring as Excalibur rushed to get his out before the show rushed off the air. The gist there was that Ospreay would be work Rampage in a trios match, which slightly broke the immersion on screen even if fans in the building remained unglued.
The power, like the Punker, appears back. On the evidence of another outstanding Dynamite, it'd be brilliant to see both stick around this time.
