11 Ups & 10 Downs For Impact Wrestling In 2020

Downs...

10. AJ Swoggle

Impact CJ Styles Swoggle
Impact Wrestling

Depending on your taste in wrestling, Swoggle dressing up as AJ Styles after an appearance by the real 'Phenomenal One' had been heavily teased by Karl Anderson was either the greatest thing we've seen from Impact this year, or it was a case of Impact turning a genuinely great rivalry between The Good Brothers and The North into a forgettable skit.

In terms of its overall value, it's the latter.

At the time, this was classed as an Up, solely because it was all laughs and giggles at Ethan Page's expense. This has since transitioned into 'All Ego' having a total meltdown without the World Tag Team Championships in his possession, going so far as to morph into his Karate Man alter ego - that in itself is fine. However, there's simply no way you can justify Swoggle's costume change as anything other than a cheap way to garner some publicity by teasing an AJ Styles return. We knew the Impact icon was never going to return because, at that point, he had just captained Team Raw to a victory at WWE Survivor Series.

Who knows if we'll ever see AJ make another appearance in Impact Wrestling. It certainly makes sense, seeing as he's done all he needs to within the confines of a WWE ring - unless he wants to win the Raw Tag Team Championships with Omos, mind you. Until then, we'll just have to settle for AJ Swoggle.
