11 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Aug 5)

11. Best Friends Roll On

Best Friends AEW
AEW

Santana and Ortiz wrestled a solid match with Best Friends on the midcard. It began with Chuck Taylor getting worked over by the gritty Inner Circle men and was paced much like a typical Taylor/Trent bout, gradually moving up the gearbox. The heels' extended control period was broken when Chuck got a hot tag later on as Trent did a boatload of selling, even when he was on the apron, though Santana and Ortiz still came within a hair of picking them off.

Trent was primed for a Street Sweeper when Chuckie T interjected, launching Santana from the top rope and allowing Trent to roll Ortiz into a clever pinfall.

Nothing blowaway here, but good action and storytelling nonetheless, with Santana and Ortiz's clear frustration at the loss feeding into the follow-up angle.
