Traditionally, Battle Royals are a solid place to begin displaying tension between tag teams, particularly if said tandem has already been aligned for a prolonged period of time. For Ace Austin and Madman Fulton, however, that, thankfully, wasn't the case.
A backstage interview with Gia Miller proved this. Ace noted how, if it were to come down to he and Fulton, then it would work out as an Ace Austin victory, meaning he'd enter Bound For Glory's Call Your Shot gauntlet match at number twenty, and Fulton at number one. Here, your writer was fully expecting the former Sawyer Fulton to be a tad angsty towards Ace's plan. Instead, he was thrilled. He was extremely open to the idea of having eighteen other guys follow him into the ring.
This was great. The Austin and Fulton team has no reason to end right now. They're a Shawn Michaels and Diesel-esque alliance rather than a fully-fledged tag team, so a run as World Tag Team Champions isn't mandatory. As much as it's a shame that they're just flung into this match, it remains a great feeling to see IMPACT not eager to disband them quite yet.
