11 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Feb 4)

4. Decent Match Tessa

The moniker 'Big Match John' is something that gets thrown around when it comes to John Cena, but how about 'Decent Match Tessa'? It seems that no matter who she's in the ring with, she's capable of putting on a wonderful contest with near enough anybody. That theory was proven this week, as her opening match with Reno Scum member Adam Thornstowe was a fun little encounter.

Surprisingly, this didn't keep to the tradition in wrestling where the larger competitor will simply overpower their smaller adversary for the duration. Instead, 'The Undeniable One' was flying all over the place, until being caught at ringside by Luster The Legend and drilled back-first into the ring apron, that is. Even that wouldn't be keeping Tessa down though, as she evaded a standing moonsault attempt from Thornstowe (impressive from a big man, by the way), and connected with three Buzzsaw DDTs for the win.

It was a fine match to open the show. Nothing that you'll remember in a few months, but still a decent match. For the most part, it felt as if Tessa was perhaps carrying the match on her back, which isn't necessarily a dig at Thornstowe. We're used to seeing him as a tag team wrestler, not a singles wrestler. Depending how often it happens, he could easily become an enjoyable singles performer. For now, keep him with big Luster.
