11 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Feb 4)

3. Bloodbath

It maybe shouldn't have been the main event of the show (ideally, that would have either been TJP vs. Vikingo or Rosemary vs. Susie, given what happened at the conclusion of that one), but Ace Austin and Tommy Dreamer's Falls Count Anywhere Street Fight still proved to be a superb hardcore brawl.

The reigning X Division Champion dove out of the balcony in the crowd at one point onto 'The Innovator of Violence' at ringside, leaping a good ten feet to reach his target. Aside from that leap of faith, 'The One True Ace' completely decimated Dreamer more or less, slicing him wide open with his playing card, while also wacking him straight across the skull with Dreamer's own kendo stick. After taking his staple bump in hardcore matches that sees him crotched on a ladder propped across the ropes, Tommy was nailed with a diving variation of The Fold as Ace scored a win.

Obviously, this was the only acceptable outcome. Had Tommy Dreamer defeated Ace Austin, who is both a rising star and a current champion in Impact Wrestling, then it would have been disastrous. Even if Tessa Blanchard caused a distraction, there still wouldn't have been an excuse for a Tommy Dreamer victory here.

You're unlikely to get a professional wrestling masterpiece from Tommy Dreamer these days, but he's certainly handy for putting on a decent enough weapons-based fight.
